Before Service
- Setup canon camera on tripod
- Plug in power cable, plug in audio cable to mic channel 1, power on
- Ask the speaker to stand on stage
- Make sure the speaker takes their mic
- Have speaker stand on the center of the carpet with their head up
- Set zoom, headroom, framing, and focus on the camera
- Zoom: Have the speaker walk to the left and right edges of the carpet. They should be close to the edge of the frame but not go outside the white box.
- Headroom: The top of the speaker’s head should touch the top line of the white box on the display
- Framing: The speaker should be center frame when they are centered on the carpet
- Focus: Turn the front ring of the canon camera lens to adjust focus. Be sure to move the focus ring back and forth to find the sweet spot. Look for sharp thin lines on a plaid shirt, sharp lines in hair, or defined readable text on a coffee mug as guides.
- Check audio level and quality
- Ask the speaker to talk. Verify that the audio meters are averaging about 2/3 to 3/4 up the scale. Plug in a set of headphones and listen to confirm that the sound is clean and not distorted.
- If the audio levels are too high or low, or the sound is distorted, work with the sound person to get it fixed. Switches on side of camera should be as follows:
- Ch1 – Line setting
- ATT – On
- Level dial in middle
- Ext
- Verify that all the other settings are as follows (displayed on the flip out screen)
